Windsurfing at Magheroarty

Windsurfing at Magheroarty – Tuesday

Video of Mikey Clancy windsurfing at Magheroarty – off the northwest Donegal coastline.

This young Dubliner is one of Europe’s most talented young windsurfers and has gained respect from fellow PWA competitors for his aggressive, progressive wave riding style. Based in the Irish Capital – probably the only leading metropolis in Europe with windsurfing beaches a stone’s throw from the city centre – Clancy has enjoyed a unique ocean-side upbringing in an urban environment, and regularly strikes-out to the west coast for a taste of raw Atlantic power.

Good Morning Donegal

Good Morning Donegal

Every day, the Good Morning Service calls over 370 people in Donegal to say ‘Good Morning’ and make sure they are safe and well…

In this film we speak to speak with the people who make the calls and the people who receive them, all of whose lives have changed thanks to the Good Morning Service.

Good Morning Donegal
The service starts their day with a Good Morning phonecall on an agreed time and day to make sure they are well and to answer any queries or provide any information they might need. The call is mostly just a friendly chat about everyday things including what’s happening in the area. It goes without saying that calls are strictly private and confidential. If you do not answer your phone at the given time we will make contact with your first chosen contact to make you are safe and well.

Portsalon Golf Club
In a remote and beautiful setting, Portsalon is a true hidden treasure. A marvellous links on the Fanad peninsula, Portsalon provides a bracing opening 3 holes before continuing through traditional linksland with a variety of fine holes. A major redesign project, undertaken by the renowned architect Pat Ruddy, has been completed (2003) and will propel Portsalon into the premier league of Irish links courses.

Rosapenna Golf Club
Originally laid out by Old Tom Morris and later improved by James Braid and Harry Vardon, Rosapenna is a charming links. The first ten holes play along Sheephaven Bay between the beach and a range of tall sand dunes. The last eight play inland and uphill in meadow where the high grounds present distracting and delightful views. The 2003 addition of the Sandy Hills course provides another 36-hole facility in Ireland’s North West.
